This is the perfect event to learn\, grow\, and connect with other writers in the area. RRWC24 takes place on January 19-20\, 2024\, at Hollins University in Roanoke. The snow date is January 26-27. The cost of the conference is $75 including lunch in the dining hall on Saturday.\n\nWe are so lucky to live in an area with incredible writers of all experiences\, genres\, and backgrounds.聽 RRWC24 is the ideal place to learn\, grow\, and experience the excitement that comes with your love of writing. It鈥檚 time to make your writing dreams a reality\, and we鈥檙e all here to help each other out!\n\nThe conference begins on Friday night at 7 p.m. with introductions\, our scholarship presentation\, and what I know will be an incredible keynote from premier guest Lee Hunsaker of 鈥淗oot and Holler鈥 fame. Saturday registration opens at 8:30 a.m.\, with classes starting at 9 a.m. Hunsaker will kick off the morning with a 2-hour workshop that will make your writer hearts sing! You鈥檒l notice a variety of tracks during each hour throughout the day; it鈥檚 a good idea to have a backup class in mind should your first choice get filled before you can find a seat. Make sure to bring pen and paper or laptop\, as well as any writing samples you might want to share in particular classes. Our presenters can鈥檛 wait to share knowledge and advice\, and there鈥檚 no doubt you鈥檒l leave the weekend buzzing with inspiration\, motivation and new friendships!\n\nClass topics vary from fiction and nonfiction\, journalism\, editing\, publishing (traditional and self-publishing)\, poetry\, and more. Associate Professor of Philosophy James Downey and Visiting Assistant Professor Charles Lowney are the team鈥檚 faculty coordinators.\n\nMany notable individuals from a variety of career fields\, including business\, law\, education\, finance\, journalism\, and others\, will listen to team presentations and offer reactions to the students鈥 presentations.\n\nThe 2024 VFIC Ethics Bowl鈥檚 opening session takes place on Sunday\, January 28\, at 2:45 p.m. in Hollins鈥 Babcock Auditorium\, with the first round of competition scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in various locations in the Dana Science Building\, Moody Student Center\, and the Richard Wetherill Visual Arts Center. On Monday\, January 29\, rounds three and four will begin at 8:45 a.m. The final round of competition will take place at 11:20 a.m. in Babcock.\n\nThe public is invited to attend the competition rounds free of charge. The winning team will be announced at 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
